Dollar General - FREE Snuggle

Vonda alertmed me that Dollar General has the Snuggle on sale for $3.  So, use the $3/1 MQ from the 3/28 RP to score this for free!!  Apparently the Salem DG was not well stocked, but the Cave Spring and Floyd ones were.

Kroger- Scrubbing Bubbles Deal: UPDATE

So, I tried the deal I posted about here, and it worked.....sort of.  Our area is selling these for $8.99, not $7.99 (so, not a freebie like was reported, but a $1 is a good price for it anyway).  Furthermore, the catalina appears to no longer be rolling.  I got my first $3 cat on the 1st transaction, but when I used that to pay for the next one, no $3 cat printed.

So, basically.....the deal works...sort of.

Coke Rewards...Update

Well, if you read my post here, you'd know we were expecting double points this week from MyCokeRewards.  However, I have not been getting double points this week.  There was an email sent to me stating that when you enter 5 Diet Coke codes between 4/26 - 5/2, you'll get 20 bonus points added to your account.  Obviously not as good as double points, but it's better than nothing.

Free Money....and a GIVEAWAY!

So, this blog is dedicated to saving money in various ways.  Well, how about some FREE money?  Nope, not a scam and you don't have to do anything that you're not already doing.  I just earned my first rewards through Swagbucks TODAY!!  Woo hoo!!!!!

I have only been a member of Swagbucks for a few months and I just earned three $5 Amazon gift cards by doing little more than using their search engine for my daily internet browsing.  Instead of setting a site as a direct favorite, I set the Swagbucks search result screen as my favorite so I have a chance of earning swagbucks just by going to my daily websites.  For instance, instead of going to my Blogger directly via my favorites, I set my favorite as the search results page of when I type in 'blogger'.  One extra click, but free $$ is worth it to me.

If you're interested in joining up, I'd invite you to do so.....just find the Swidget in my bottom right side bar and click 'Sign Up'.  By signing up under me, I'll get referal points when you earn points by searching!  I just set their main page as my homepage and go there to search!

In celebration of winning my first Amazon gift cards, I'd like to do a giveaway.  Sign up for Swagbucks and start searching and you'll be entered to win a stack of quality coupons of your choice (as long as I have them, can get them, or can print them).  All you'll need to do is sign up through my Swidget on this page (or by going HERE), start searching, and win Swagbucks (it's a win-win situation, wouldn't you say?)!

In a couple weeks (once you've had a chance to sign up and win some swagbucks), I'll randomly choose a winner and email you to ask you what coupons you want and I'll mail them to you.  If you're not a follower on my site, make sure you email me to let me know you signed up so I can send you notification if you win!

Good luck and happy searching!

Black & Decker Cordless Scissors

I saw on a post from Hip2Save that the Black & Decker Cordless Scissors are on clearance for less than $13 at Amazon right now.  I read the reviews of this product and they seemed very positive.  Does anyone have any personal experience with these??  I'd like to get a few....maybe for a Father's Day gift and some for Christmas while they're a good price, but I'd like some feedback from others that may have tried this product already.  Check it out below if you've never seen them.

Ways to get coupons you want....

We all know about internet printables, manufacturer mailing lists, Sunday inserts, hangtags and peelies. But how do you get the coupons you WANT? I tell you, the best way is to join a coupon swap forum or set up a local couponers group.

Some steps you SHOULD take before trading and swapping:

1. Type up a wish list. I can't tell you how many coupons I toss in the trash that I just KNOW someone could use, but because I don't have a wish list (or frequently used brand/item list), I don't know about it. This is extremely important and probably the first step you have to take before trading. It doesn't take long and once you have it set, all you need to do is add the hot coupons you are looking for each week. There are so many databases out there to search for great IP's, blinkies, etc.

2. Know what you have access to and list that for others to see. If you don't have a printer, say so. If you have access to 20 bazillion inserts, let people know. It's nice to know who to go to for what coupons you may be in the market for. You don't have to list every single coupon you have, but just notify your potential traders what you usually have access to.

3. Trade with people you trust. I can't emphasize this enough. Join a group, forum, or board that has reputable people running it and rules for trading. You wouldn't believe how many people are out there scamming you for your coupons (no, really.....).

4. If you're starting a swappers group with people you know, you may want to lay down some guidelines for swaps so people don't get upset if they feel that they're being taken advantage of. You don't want to start a group with friends and have one person think that they're giving someone all these great coupons but getting squat in return. You may do a coupon-for-coupon rule, a face value percentage, or some other method for determining what's a fair swap.

5. Be organized. If you don't get organized, how are you going to find the coupons other people are looking for? There are so many ways to organize your coupons and your extra coupons. My biggest advice....DO NOT clip everything and throw what you know you're not going to want into an envelope for others to look through. I've tried this before and it's cumbersome and it eventually gets to be too much. You're also not going to find coupons that someone is asking you for in a big envelope full of clipped coupons!

What are some of your ideas? Do you currently have a trading group locally or on line?

The Map: The Way of All Great Men - A Review

As promised, I have finished this book and wanted to give you my brief take on it.

The Map: The Way of All Great Men by David Murrow

Summary

The Map is a realistic look into the issue of a man’s role in society and church. Murrow discusses the reasons why men in today’s churches are often made to believe that being masculine is a sin and explores a “map” given in the Bible of the various journeys a man must take during his walk with Christ.

Reactions

Murrow gives very appealing and thought-provoking parables about the different stages of a man’s journey during his walk with Christ: submission, strength, and sacrifice. He shows, through Scriptural proof, a “map” which has been laid out for men to follow. He explains that for men to be Christ-like does not mean that men have to be weak, timid, and always tender – for Christ was not always this way during His time on earth. This book, should it be taken to heart by men in church everywhere, will change the way people see a Christian man. Leaders of the church need to realize that there is a place for strength and masculinity in today’s strong Christian man….without it, we are certainly destined for failure.

I'd highly recommend this book to men and women alike.  It really brings home the need for solid Christian men to be just that: MEN!  We, as a society and church, need to stop emasculating our husbands, fathers, sons, and church members because one day we'll find that we have lost a valuable diversity that God has set in place....men are men and women are women.

Saving Money on Food

As most of you know, this site isn't only about coupons and store deals...I like to find other ways to help people save money.  Some times that will be in the form of mass cooking and freezing meals, other times it will be in money saving tips and tricks for every day life.

Remeber this post regarding the super way to save money on fresh local vegetables, well, I also got an idea that I wanted to try my hand at container gardening along with my regular in-ground garden.  I had no idea how to container garden, so I looked to Amazon for some good books on the subject.  I was really surprised at the limited number of books published on vegetable container gardening....everything seemed to be about flower gardens.

Then, I found this book: McGee & Stuckey's Bountiful Container: Create Container Gardens of Vegetables, Herbs, Fruits, and Edible Flowers.  This book was dubbed the Bible of container gardening by the reviewers, so I took a chance and bought it.  I was pleasantly surprised when I started reading it....it was EXACTLY what I was looking for.  There are so many great ideas for different types of containers, where to grow, what to grow, etc.  They even show you how to grow a ton of potatoes in a 20 gallon plastic trash can (and you can do it without soil)!

This book makes me believe that ANYONE can grow their own vegetables no matter where they live.  Don't let the fact that you live in apartment or don't have a lot of land keep you from FREE and fresh veggies you grew yourself!  If you're nearby and want to browse the book I have, let me know and I'd be more than happy to lend it to you when I'm done reading.

Book Reviews

If you have look at some of the links on my right side bar, you'll see that I have started getting books from BookSneeze to review.  Right now, I am finishing up The Map: The Way of All Great Men by David Murrow.  This is a fantastic book so far and I should have a short review for you all soon.

Next I'll be reading Plan B: What Do You Do When God Doesn't Show Up Like You Thought He Would? by Pete Wilson.  I'll be posting a review on May 3rd on this book, but from reading the first chapter on-line....it looks to be a great book too!

Pilot FriXion pens and highlighters

This week at Wags, you can get a 3pk of the Pilot FriXion erasable pens and highlighters for $1.19. Use the $1 coupon found in the April booklet to get it for $0.19/ea.

Better yet.....buy 3 and submit for a $4.50 rebate!!! That's a $3.93 MM!!

I bought each kind yesterday to see if they even worked before I posted this....and to my suprise THEY WORK GREAT! The "eraser" erases the pen or highlighter mark with friction instead of the normal method which means you don't rip your paper or have left over marks!

Inventory alert: The 419 Wags is out of the pens as of this morning and there were only 1-2 highlighter packs when I left. Wags in Salem had nothing! If you want to get in on this deal, keep checking back as they may stock a little each day or get more in when the truck comes in.

Thanks, Hip2Save

Freebies at CVS next week 4/11

Looks like there will be a couple good MM's next week at CVS:

Dove shampoo or conditioner will be free after ECB's, and will be a MM with the $1.50 MQ from the 3/28 RP (there was also a $2 IP from their website a few weeks ago if you still have those).

Dial Nutriskin body wash will also be free after ECB's, and will be a MM with the $1.50 coupon from Coupons.com (see my right side bar to print from here).

As always, you can get the full line-up of sale match-ups from SouthernSavers with a printable shopping list (she posts CVS on Friday and Wags on Saturday), so I'm not going to post all of the deals. I just wanted to give you a heads up so you can print the q's now before they're gone!

New Food Lion Coupon Policy??

Posted 4/5/10

I went to the Food Lion on 419 today and was told by the cashier (heavy set white female, about 25 y/o, light brown hair-usually in a ponytail) that their new manager would not accept any more than ONE IP of the same type per order. Now, I went there almost every day last week and used multiple IP's with no issue. I told her this and she just said that she (the new manager) said not to accept more than one copy. I promptly informed her that I do not COPY coupons....each one has their own security code printed. She said she knew that but could not take more than one. I told her to void the order, give me back all my coupons and unpack my bags......that'd I'd be more than happy to go to another FL that didn't make up rules against company policy.

Beware....good luck. I plan on trying again tomorrow morning if the normal cashiers are working.

Kroger - Free $$ Alert

Posted 4/1/10

In case you go to Kroger for the deal I posted here....please be aware that I tried this deal this morning and didn't get the $5 OYNO coupon. I went to CS and she just ended up giving me a $5 Kroger gift card instead. There are signs up about this deal at the gc center and it's also in the store circular, so you should have no problem proving that you should have received it.

Also, the Ridgewood Farms Kroger is out of the multi-pack Applebee's gift cards. The circular states "while supplies last", so I wouldn't assume you can get a raincheck for this.
