Book Review - Plan B by Pete Wilson

As I mentioned before, I have been privileged to be able to review books for Book Sneeze and want to pass on a summary of the lastest book I read, as well as my reactions.  This book will be available starting tomorrow.

Plan B: What do you do when God doesn’t show up the way you thought He would?
By Pete Wilson

Summary
Plan B discusses how many people react to situations and problems we face in our lives. Wilson urges us to accept that just because we are in the midst of a crisis doesn’t mean that God is punishing us or that He has somehow failed to provide for us. We often find ourselves in situation where things didn’t go as we planned it, but the true challenge (and reward) is in the way we deal with these situations and how we use them to help others.

My Review
Wilson makes some very astute, yet difficult to stomach, observations. When we are in the midst of a crisis, it is difficult for us to understand or fathom why these things are happening to us. Wilson reminds us that we are not God, we are not in control, and we don’t know the master plan. The very fact that we may have written a path and a future for ourselves, separate from God’s plan, may be the source of our failures and frustrations. His insights are humbling, thought-provoking, and sometimes difficult to accept. However, if we take an honest look into our motivations and self aspirations, we may find that we have been on the wrong path all along. Most importantly, we learn to accept that sometimes things just happen that we don’t have an explanation for, no matter how heart-wrenching and difficult they are to deal with, but it doesn’t mean that God is not still in control.
